Amazon Photos

Updated: Oct 29, 2018

In today’s society we all have a camera at our finger tips; and no one knows better than a new parent about the convenience of being able to snap a quick picture of your kiddo.

We take so many pictures but do we do anything with them besides posting them on social media? Basically they sit on our phone until we fill up our storage space and are forced to finally delete them.

Chris and I wanted to make sure we did something with all the pictures we took. I heard about chat books, but wasn’t sure I wanted tons of tiny books, and I didn’t want to design a book each year on a site like Shutterfly. So we decided we would go old school, print out the pictures and put them in a good old photo album. Since a majority of the pictures we would be taking would be with our phones I went online to see if Walmart or Walgreens had an app where the pictures on my phone would automatically upload and I could choose from there which photos to print. But I couldn’t find anything that would upload directly from my phone, until I discovered Prime Photos.

We’re already Amazon Prime members so it wasn’t an extra cost to us, and it did exactly what I was looking for. I just had to download the “Prime Photos” app and it automatically uploads all my photos from my phone to Amazon’s Prime Photos. When I’m ready to order I do need to use a computer to select and place the order, but but it’s so nice to have all the photos from my phone all in the same spot. Printing the actual photos only takes a little over a week (even though when you order them it says it takes longer) and actually costs less per print than Walmart or Walgreens. Bonus: I’ve gotten prints from all three places and I’m happiest with the print quality from Amazon.

Not only does Prime Photos offer a fast easy way to get prints of your pictures but it also is an awesome way to backup photos and videos from your phone, helping you save storage space on your phone. I’ve had an external storage device for my phone for a few years now, so running out of storage hasn’t been too much of an issue for me, but when I found the Prime Photo app the photo and video storage was an extra bonus! I only use Prime Photos for Photos and videos of Claire, but it’s so nice to be able to get at those photos and videos whenever I want without using up phone storage and being able to few them on any computer as well. I could also give my password to my parents or in-laws and they could have access to see all the pictures/videos uploaded and they could order prints of their own.

Overall, it’s a great concept and I would highly recommend trying this out. It’s a great app for storage, accessing and printing photos all in one. Plus you can add the app to other phones (like your husband’s) sign in on the app and have their pictures upload too.

UPDATE: Amazon has changed this from Prime Photos to Amazon Photos. You can also print straight from the app now!
